The coaching participant has a specific goal and a specific focus for learning the English language. You learn languages best in a specific context that you know and find interesting, that is where ESP comes in. Learners’ English improves through materials that are interesting and relevant to them and that they can use in their professional life or to deepen their language skills.
A good learner grasps the meaning of the language he or she hears or reads in context without ostensibly paying too much attention to linguistic aspects or grammar. When learning with ESP, English is not considered to be a subject or a set of facts unrelated to everyday use. Nor is language a technical skill or habit that one develops. Rather, English should be taught in authentic contexts to show students how the language is used in situations relevant to their particular field of expertise.
First and foremost, we determine our participants’ learning objectives for the English coaching. On this basis, we create a Coaching Training Plan with timed activities. One of our most important tasks is the selection, creation and organization of relevant and interesting course materials
