For four days – from June 2nd until June 5th – the Wave-Gothic Festival took place in Leipzig for the 26th time with around 21.000 visitors from all over the world. Every year the festival at Whitsuntide attracts ten thousands of Gothic fans. It is the world´s largest Gothic festival.
The weekend was accompanied by a special program with readings, theatre performances, exhibitions and two medieval markets. For interested people there were guided tours through the cemeteries with information all around the topic “death”. In the evenings more than 210 bands and artists performed.
One highlight of the Wave-Gothic Festival is always the Victorian picnic that takes place in Clara-Zetkin Park. Elegantly dressed people come to show off their elaborate costumes and have a stroll through the park. From black to colourful – the visitors of the WGT come in different colours and styles, from Victorian to steampunk, zombies, corpsepaint and cyber gothics.
